Down Syndrome Through Inclusive Leisure - 4th Coordination Meeting in Greece

On February 18-20, 2019, AUTH hosted the fourth meeting among partners participating in the European project DS LEISURE, funded by the European Commission within the ERASMUS+ 2017 Programme, Strategic Partnerships for Adult Education.

The initiative is promoted by the Romanian association ALDO-CET, Asociatia Langdon Down Oltenia, Centrul Educational Teodora; AUTH is one of the partner organisations.

DS LEISURE aims to increase the skills, abilities and knowledge of people with Down syndrome and their surroundings, family members, professionals and volunteers, on how to develop inclusive leisure time, through an innovative training programme.

The 4th coordination meeting, held in Thessaloniki at the main building of School of Health Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was important to finalize the training materials and experiential training. AUTH team among with the partners, visited the Down Syndrome Association and the Rehabilitation Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities “Sotir” having the opportunity to wander along the premises of both structures and interact with children and adults with Down Syndrome or other intellectual disabilities.

Significant focus was given to the demonstration of the e-Training platform and the games developed by AUTH professionals for the project’s purposes. Partners followed the train the trainer Hands on Workshops in order to efficiently use and manage the content of the e-Training platform.

120 persons with Down syndrome, families, support professionals and 40 professionals of Leisure Sector
will be trained using this e-Training platform.
